FREE CORONAVIRUS ANTIBODY TESTING

Free of charge, the Fund is providing coronavirus antibody testing for you and your eligible dependents age 5 or older, as part of the Building Trades Welfare Foundation-Mayo Clinic Laboratories COVID-19 Resilience Project (Resilience Project). Testing is for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.

This Resilience Project:

  • Uses some of the highest reliability antibody tests available, provided by one of the most well-respected research laboratories in the world – Mayo Clinic Labs.
  • Provides you important information about your own health – whether you have protective antibodies from natural exposure to the virus or the vaccine, which can potentially prevent you from contracting COVID-19 or reduce the severity of symptoms if you do become infected.
  • Is honored to be part of the proud legacy of organized labor leading the way in important societal matters. Few studies to date have examined the types of populations that are part of the Resilience Project.

Read the enclosed flyer for additional information – be part of the solution!

TYPES OF ANTIBODY TESTS OFFERED:

  • Finger Prick Test (Blood Spot Card): This will determine if you have antibodies due to a natural exposure to the virus. This will NOT test for antibodies in response to a vaccine.
  • Blood Draw (Venipuncture): This will determine if you have antibodies due to a natural exposure to the virus OR to the vaccine. If you are only interested in whether you have positive antibodies in response to the vaccine, select the Blood Draw.

DATES AND LOCATIONS:  The testing is being conducted in conjunction with other building trades. On a first-come, first-serve basis, you may choose any date or location below that is most convenient for you and your family (available times will be on registration site):

Erika Lindsay Recipient of Plumbers Local 98 Scholarship Award update

Erika Lindsay contacted us with an update on what she’s doing. Erika is a recipient of Plumbers Local 98 Scholarship Award; Erika is the Daughter of Member Ronald Lindsay and niece of Member Paul Lindsay and Member Ryan Lyle.

Hello!

I wanted to reach out and thank Plumber’s Local 98 for choosing me as a recipient of a 2020 scholarship. I moved to Tempe, Arizona this August to pursue a master’s degree at Arizona State University in Speech-Language Pathology. I have had a busy first semester taking on a full load of classes as well as seeing toddlers in our speech and language clinic. This semester, I am completing a clinical rotation in a local elementary school providing therapy and helping administer assessments to children identified as at-risk for developmental delays. I ended last semester with a 3.94 GPA, and am looking forward to another successful semester. The funding you graciously awarded allowed me to purchase materials and textbooks for my classes as well as help to pay my monthly bills. Thank you again for your generosity!

Best,

Erika Lindsay

Diversity Toy Drive

This month Plumbers Local 98 is partnering with Representative Lori Stone to promote her Diversity Toy Drive.

The goal is to provide toys that are inclusive to the diverse community that Beaumont serves. As we know representation matters and children should have books, toys and dolls that represent them! This drive has already made progress in inclusiveness. Originally it was asked that culturally appropriate skincare and haircare products could also be donated. While Beaumont’s infection protection guidelines prohibited the collection of publicly donated products, Beaumont has stepped up to source and provide patients with culturally appropriate skincare and haircare products. Here is a link to an Amazon wish list with suggested items however all diverse and representative toys, dolls, books, and games are appreciated. You can drop off your donation at the hall.
